Never eat a mushroom unless you're 100% sure it is not toxic
Either take a mushroom identification course yourself or go out with someone who knows which ones are which. Most of them are easy to learn and you can learn how to tell good ones from the toxic ones.
It is so much fun to learn. There are 100's of edible mushrooms on Earth. They are used in tasty dishes all over the world.
My recipe entrees to the Nama chopped Culinary competition
- The North American Mycological Association's culinary contest is modeled after the "Chopped" chef competition. Required ingredients were mushrooms, bananas, pistachios, molasses, and vegemite. Quite the challenge, but I was inspired by a stunning Laetiporus sp. and very pleased with our collaboration.
